My name's Dorrie and I was adopted by the Rolfe family in the beginning of 2011. I came from Wagga pound and was fostered with the Rolfe's until they fell in love with me. I've been here ever since! I love holidaying with my family. I've only been on one holiday with them so far, but they've promised me that they are taking me to the beach in Christmas, back to Bateman's Bay!
We left on a Friday night. My family came home from work and plonked me in the car. I was so confused! I quickly realised I wasn't going to the dog park, because I had to share the back seat with all these bags. Where were we going? It took AGES to get there. Finally when we arrived I checked out the new house. It smelt a bit funny like there had been other dogs around, but it was clean and well kept.
My favourite bit was the doggie door! I don't have one at home, so this meant I could go in and out whenever I wanted. The backyard was fairly large, with a big patio and BBQ area. I could lie in the sun and warm up while my family slept in.
In the mornings my family would walk across the road and have coffee at the local cafe. I didn't mind them leaving me, because I could sit behind the fence and watch them, it was really that close! We would then go for a walk along the off leash beach. We would start up Tomaga river and walk down where the river met the beach. The water was so clear I could see the fish through it. I could chase the fish in the water, but they were a little too fast for me. ;(
The beach was fantastic. I've never been in the waves before so I got a bit surprised. But my foster sister Rosie seemed to enjoy it, so I just copied her. We ran around like crazy. We were so pooped when we got back to the house!
Just when we were about to leave Rob came past to collect the key. He seemed like a good guy and he gave us all a pat. I can't wait to go back at Christmas, there should be lots of other dogs around who can play with me on the beach!
