House of de Carteret - Fabulous Dog Soap
This soap is perfect when your lab has rolled in something smelly. All our fosters use it to get the 'pound smell' off! We're very fortunate to receive this donation, as it's fantastic dog soap!
The following is from the website:
A gentle, natural formulation, we have produced a soap that unlike most others contains no artificial brighteners, hardeners, lathering agents or phosphates, nor any animal fats. The soap is hand made by the traditional method to a recipe handed down by an old country vet, with a combination of natural oils and essential oils. The essential oils chosen all work together to create a superb healing and calming, along with a conditioning of the animals skin and coat.
With a PH that is complimentary to the animals skin, this soap will give any animal (horses, cows, dogs, goats, ferrets, cats and more) a noticeably odour free, healthier and shinier coat. Not only will the coat feel softer and stronger, the soap will help soothe and contain most skin irritations thus stopping animals biting and rubbing which in turn allows the normal healing process. Also repels biting insects e.g. ticks, fleas, mozzies, and those dreaded botflies.
Most of our labs come into our care with little or no lead training. We use the sensible harness to teach our dogs not to pull. It attaches the lead to the dog's chest which means when they lunge, they are spun back to face you. It doesn't cause any health issues and anyone can use it with very little training. We strongly recommend anyone who wants to adopt a dog from us buys this product. We receive no donations or commissions from this supplier, it's simply a good product!
Unfortunately there's only one place (that we've seen!) where you can purchase the harness. Contact Tamara and Stuart from Underdog Training to place an order.

Thunder Shirts
Our friend Amanda at LabraDog Rescue found these and use them regularly on her dogs (both fosters and her own). They are meant to calm nervous or anxious dogs. You can use them in storms, at the vets or if a dog is stressed in a new environment. It works by placing gentle pressure around the dog's chest. According to the website, 80% of dog's respond to the shirt.
You can purchase the shirts from Amanda's rescue site, or at your local pet store. We've also seen them at the Belconnen Discount Pet store on Oakley Crt if you are in North Canberra.
