Our website is updated at least every 48 hours so there is a good chance that the dogs you see are still available, although they could have someone meeting them in the next few days. It is worthwhile filling in an application even if you don't see the Lab of your dreams as we give the people on our waiting lists first priority before putting the Labs on our website. Less than 50% of our dogs make it onto the website.
If you do find the lab of your dreams on our website, please fill in our adoption application form as soon as possible as we generally get several applications for each of the dogs we advertise. If we have a selection of great homes for that dog, they will go to the home that is available first. We have limited space and need to make room for other Labs in need.
Most of our rescues are cared for in the Canberra/Sydney region in Australia. Please note the location of each dog and consider carefully whether you will be able to visit a potential new dog or transport it to you. Transport is an additional cost above the dog's adoption fee.
If you are located in WA, you can read more about dogs local to your area here.
Don't see the dog of your dreams here? Please check out the Private Rehoming page for more dogs looking for wonderful new homes.
Jake
We all know labs – even the oldies – tend to always remain puppies at heart, but here’s your chance to get the true blue puppy experience with 7 month old Jake. dont expect him to be puppy sized, he is 30kg. Jake is one big, smooch of a boy. He is a little chubbier than we would like him to be but his wonderful foster carer and her own lab have been working very hard to get Jake moving more and eating less !
Jake came to lab rescue because, like so many of the surrenders we rehome, his previous family underestimated how much time, energy and attention labs– especially young ones – require. So this time round we want to make sure that anyone keen on this beautiful boy is fully aware of the needs, wants and requirements that come with welcoming very young labs into your home.
Jake is a pure bred lab and even comes with papers. He can be both cuddly and cheeky and will happily retrieve anything that is lying around (his fave is dirty socks) and attempt to relocate them to wherever he feels like it. He’s also a food lover (what lab isn’t) and is quickly learning his manners but will need more work in this area and others. At such a young age, Jake needs more obedience work all round. He hasn’t had much lead work and recall, but the good news is he’s a wonderfully social lad and gets on with other dogs quite happily and would probably be best suited to a home where there is another pooch for company. He loves life and all the excitement that comes with it, so whilst great with kids, he would be best with ones about 8+ just so he doesn’t bowl them over in his rush to meet and greet everyone in sight.
Jake is loving his new found outlook on life and is even getting kinda used to the idea of swimming. His first sojourn saw him take a few steps into the water, before he spotted some nearby fishermen and decided he would very kindly offer to rid them of their packet of bait – oops! The great news is that because he loves his food soooo much, training him should be easy – all it takes is a little dedication and a handful of treats! Garden lovers should probably not apply, what's a garden for if not for puppies to play in. If you have the time, patience and will to help transform this lovable labby lad then please fill in our adoption questionnaire.
Jake is located in north Sydney and is available for interstate adoption. Jake comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm and intestinal worm treated with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family for a re-homing fee of $450. Sasha
Sasha is an approximately one year old black lab who is still maturing (currently weighs 22kg). She is slim, has lovely blue and brown eyes and a beautiful coat.
She is really great with our two-year old golden lab Henry. They play regularly, sleep close together and hang out in the garden. Sasha has excellent manners when eating and, unusually for a lab, she is not food obsessed. She is good on the lead and whilst off the lead, she stays near and trots close to her owner. We have taken her to the river a couple of times, and she loves the water. Sasha is partly house trained but by the time she’s found her forever home, she’s likely to be fully house trained. She travels very well in the car and handles stairs with ease.
Sasha knows how to sit and stay and is learning very quickly to not jump up via the firm command “down”. She is obedient, however sometimes forgets not to jump, but a regular reminder is accepted. She is always very keen to please.
She is a very active dog and enjoys being around other dogs and people. She enjoys meeting new people and welcomes guests into the house with great enthusiasm and excitement. She wags her tail, makes a couple of friendly barks and then wags her whole body!
She is cooperative while being bathed and enjoys being cleaned. She loves cuddles, and sleeps comfortable on the floor with her head on the lap of a friendly human. At night she sleeps at the end of our 14 year old's bed. In the morning she welcomes the new day with great delight and lots of licks. She helps us all get dressed in the morning, with a particular interest in helping us put our shoes and socks on.
Sasha is excellent with teenagers. She is curious and likes to be involved in general household activities such as gardening, house cleaning and cooking. She loves going for walks, eating bones, sleeping and being cuddled.
Sasha would be very appreciative of a forever home with people who will appreciate her enthusiastic and loving nature and willingness to learn. She is great with teenagers, very friendly and has much love to share.
Sasha is located in Queanbeyan and is available for interstate adoption. Sasha comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm and intestinal worm treated with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family for a re-homing fee of $450. Alex
Ok so Alex isn’t really the typical dog you would usually find on the Lab Rescue site being a mixture of breeds, perhaps Kelpie/Doberman (with the Kelpie type temperament), but he's here now safely out of the pound and needs help to find a wonderful new forever home.
Alex is a very affectionate, friendly young lad who at only 8 months of age is so full of beans and chockerblock with affection that he just wants to share with everyone else in the world. He is quite the star at his foster carer's local dog park and loves life, people, dogs and most of all walks, walks and more walks. He enjoys visits to the beach and the lake, not a keen swimmer but loves the freedom of tearing around on the shoreline.
Loveable at first sight, Alex being a quick learner has come ahead in leaps and bounds in Lab Rescue’s care. His puppy training is progressing wonderfully well. He is toilet trained, knows sit, comes when called, and is good on-lead.
Alex is very much still a pup though, so any new owner will need to be prepared to keep up his training and put in the hard yards as he learns all the rules and boundaries (and give him somewhere appropriate to dig and redirect his desire to chew). He is already showing signs of being an absolute gem and with the right teaching and right amount of time his new owner will be truly blessed with a beautiful loyal and loving boy for life.
Alex loves short trips in the car (he suffers from car sickness on long trips) and is constantly happy, especially when playing. He is good around dogs as well as most ages of people but can still get over-excited around small children – after all he is still a baby himself really and we’re sure the older he gets the more settled he will become.
Alex is located in Newcastle and is available for interstate adoption. Alex comes desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm and intestinal worm treated with a ton of love and a gorgeous smile for the right family for a re-homing fee of a donation to the work of Lab Rescue.
